"The Turkish government is violating the rights of the people in northern and eastern Syria through militias and affiliated groups," Kevin Masto, chairman of the Belgian parliament's anti-terror committee, who is visiting Syria as part of a delegation, told Hawarnews.
"The international community must act to stop the Turkish army from invading the region. Turkey's actions in Syria are unacceptable. I will report what I have seen here to the Belgian government," the official stressed.
"We can no longer ignore human rights violations," he said, adding that "The Kurdish people must be supported in order to remove the threats from the region. The system of self-government established by the Kurds must be recognized and supported. This support is also very important in the fight against terrorism."
"The heroic Kurdish people need a lot of support. The 12,000 refugees living in the Vashukani camp have one thing in common, and that is to return home. This is a completely natural and legitimate request. Everyone has to work to make it happen," Masto further said.
