The Turkish prosecutor in Diyarbakir has filed an indictment against Ghalib Ansarioglu, a former Diyarbakir MP in the Turkish Parliament from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), on assassination accusation.
According to the Duvar newspaper, the Diyarbakir prosecutor in the indictment referred to the presence of Ansariolu at the funeral ceremony of a People's Protection Units (YPG) member in Diyarbakir in 2015.
The prosecutor has summoned the former AK Party representative to provide explanations and has asked for a police investigation into the matter.
Ansarioglu said in 2016 about his action and attending the funeral of Abdul Qadir Durgun, a YPG fighter who lost his life in the war against the ISIS that: "At that time, Turkey had not announced the Syrian Democratic Union Party (PYD) as a terrorist group. The funeral was the burial ceremony of one of the fighters who stood up to the ISIS in Shingal and Kobani."
