Iraqi Federal Court Rejects Complaint Over Kurdistan Regional Government Employees’ Promotions

Iraq and Kurdistan Region Service- The Iraqi Federal Supreme Court rejected a complaint filed by a number of Kurdistan Regional Government employees against the head of the regional government regarding the suspension of their promotions and payment of their financial benefits due to “incompetence.”

According to KurdPress, the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court heard the case of the suspension of the promotions of Kurdistan Regional Government employees in a session and ultimately rejected the complaint filed against the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government.In this case, Ahmad Muhammad Saleh, Hadi Hama Rashid, and Brigadier General Naseh Ahmad, employees of the Kurdistan Regional Government, filed a complaint against the head of the regional government and asked the court to declare the regional government’s decision and actions to suspend employee promotions within the framework of Resolution No. 56 dated December 21, 2015 of the Regional Council of Ministers unconstitutional.

The plaintiffs also demanded that the regional government be required to implement the employee promotion process and pay all salaries and financial benefits related to the suspension of promotion.

The Federal Supreme Court of Iraq ultimately dismissed the complaint, citing “lack of jurisdiction.”

This decision was issued while the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Finance had officially announced the start of employee promotion processes in recent days.Previously, the Iraqi Minister of Finance had ordered that the issue of career advancement for Kurdistan Regional Government employees be included in the framework of the new Iraqi budget.
