Sadr, in a statement posted to Twitter on Monday, called for the quick formation of a national government that was "neither eastern nor western,” that would provide services and security.
In his statement, Sadr thanked Supreme Judicial Council head Faiq Zaidan, the Federal Court, the Electoral Commission, and UN representative Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, as well as the Iraqi people "who have been patient and won.”
The Iraqi Federal Supreme Court on Monday upheld the October election results, rejecting an appeal by supporters of Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi).
The ruling is considered a victory for populist Sadr’s bloc, which won 73 seats in the Iraqi Parliament.
