KDP says resolving Iraqi presidential crisis depends on understanding among Shia blocs

A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) stressed that the presidential crisis in Iraq will not have any effect on the process of governing the Kurdistan Region by the KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), saying: "Resolving this crisis depends on understandings between Shiites."

In an interview with Al-Ma'lomeh news agency, Mehdi Abdul Karim said no talks have been held between the KDP and the PUK regarding the Iraqi presidency, adding: "In the coming days until April 6, we may see talks between the two parties."

He noted ending the political crisis in Iraq depends on an agreement and understanding between the Coordination Framework and the Sadr Movement, as this agreement will achieve the required one-third of the legal quorum and hold a parliamentary session to elect a president and would resolve the differences between the parties.
