Syrian government, opposition exchange shelling in northwest

Turkish-backed opposition factions and the government forces continued shelling each other in the de-escalation zones in northwest Syria on Thursday, March 31.

“The opposition factions’ sites in the towns of al-Bara, Kansafra and Hirsh Benin, south of Idlib, were hit with heavy artillery and missiles by the government forces,” military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press.

“The opposition’s sites in the towns of Tel-Wasit, al-Sarmania and Duwayr al-Akrad, in the Ghab Plain area in the western countryside of Hama, were also hit with Heavy artillery and rocket launchers by the government forces,” the sources added.

Meanwhile, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room bombed the positions of the government forces near the town of al-Amqiya in the western countryside of Hama,” military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press.

Despite being included in the de-escalation agreement signed between Russia and Turkey in 2020, the areas of northwest Syria witness daily exchange of shelling between the government forces and Turkish-backed opposition factions.
