Nechirvan Barzani, Norwegian envoy discuss Iraqi political process

<p style="text-align:left">Kurdistan Region Premier Nechirvan Barzani received on Monday the Norwegian ambassador to Jordan and Iraq, Tone Allers, to discuss the current political developments in the region and Iraq, including the first parliamentary session held on the day.

During the meeting, Allers clarified that her main objective in the visit was to closely be aware of the Kurdistan Region's stance in the Iraqi political process, where Barzani highlighted the main points in this regard to the Norwegian official, according to a statement by the Kurdish premier's office.
Both sides hoped that the new Iraqi government, apart from preserving the Kurdish constitutional rights, will bring peace and stability to the country and that will be serving all Iraqis with better public services, the statement continued.
According to BasNewes the Norwegian envoy also hailed the role of the Kurdistan Region in hosting 1.8 million IDPs and Syrian refugees in the past few years, reaffirming her country's support for the region in helping the minorites.
The officials reiterated the bilateral ties between Erbil and Oslo, and exchanged views on the upcoming regional parliamentary election, set for September 30.
