Abadi is our only candidate for prime ministry, alliance says

<p style="text-align:left">Nasr alliance on Wednesday, September 12, announced Haidar al-Abadi is the only candidate it will nominate for the position of Iraqi Prime Minister.

&ldquo;Nasr&rsquo;s project is to save Iraq so as not to be affected by the policy of the international and regional sides,&rdquo; the alliance said in a written statement.
According to NRT it added that "Nasr carries reform project with vision of development which is able to put the country on the path of stability and growth.&rdquo;
The creation of a new Iraqi cabinet has been delayed since May, when the results of the parliamentary election underwent a recount precipitated by allegations of electoral fraud.
In May 12 election, Moqtada al-Sadr&rsquo;s Sairoon topped the results of the election with 54 seats, followed by the Fateh bloc led by Hadi al-Amiri, and Prime Minister Haider Abadi&rsquo;s Nasr coming in third.
Iraq's top Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani said on Monday, September 10, that the next prime minister must be a politician who has not been in a position of authority in the past.
&ldquo;[The Marja] will not support the next prime minister if they are selected from politicians who have been in authority in the past, without distinguishing between the party individuals or the independents,&rdquo; the statement read.
