Sabri said in a press statement on Thursday, October 11, that her party has the right to assume one of the two deputy prime ministers in the next government.
Additionally, the KDP is laying claim to two other ministries, including one sovereign ministry.
According to NRT she continued by saying that, "according to the number of seats obtained by the Kurdistan Democratic Party, [we] will be entitled to assume the presidency of two parliamentary committees and two vice-committee chairmanships."
The KDP won 25 seats in May’s parliamentary election coming in joint fourth with State of Law, but behind the Sairoon List, the Fateh Alliance, and the Nasr Coalition.
It has already secured the second deputy speaker position, but missed out on the presidency when the rival Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s candidate, Barham Salih, was overwhelmingly elected by MPs in the second round of voting.
