The PM-designate will begin talks with parliamentary leadership and the political blocs to schedule a date to formally submit the slate, Abdul Mahdi’s media office said in a written statement.
Less than two weeks remain for Abdul Mahdi to form a new cabinet and submit it to the parliament, NRT reported.
Abdul Mahdi was named prime minister on October 2 and, under the terms of the constitution, has until November 1 to form his government.
He has expressed his opposition to party-affiliated candidates filling ministerial posts in the new government and has solicited nominations from the general public.
The unprecedented measure comes as Abdel Mahdi, a former Iraqi vice president, battles to overcome sharp party political differences and forge a viable governing coalition.
