In response to the possibility of an imminent Turkish attack on northern and eastern Syria, the Syrian Foreign Ministry rejected in a statement the plan to establish a safe zone on Syrian soil, calling the attacks a war crime and aimed at ethnic and geographical cleansing.
In the statement, the Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the United States and other NATO members for abusing the Syrian issue, its sovereignty and territorial integrity to blackmail and bargain for political goals.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry stated that within the framework of international law, Syria has the right to use all legitimate means against any hostile attack on its territory.
Damascus also demanded the withdrawal of all foreign powers from Syrian territory.
