Coordination Framework will try for agreement with Sadrist Movement: Maliki

The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki said on Friday, June 17, the Coordination Framework will attempt to reach an agreement with all other blocs, including the Sadrist Movement.

Maliki who is a key figure in what is now the largest Shia bloc in parliament, the Coordination Framework, said their attempt is for the greater good and an act of taking responsibility.
Maliki said a peaceful relationship between the blocs would be beneficial and lead to mutual understanding.
On Friday, Vian Sabri, an MP and the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Iraq’s parliament, said the KDP is ready for talks with all the political parties.
MPs from the Sadrist Movement resigned from parliament on June 12 after the movement’s leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, asked them to prepare their letters of resignation.
The movement was considered the largest bloc by the number of seats in the parliament and was calling for a government formed by the majority of blocs.
