Momen Zellmi, an analyst of Kurdish issues, has discussed in an article in Amwaj website the effects of the war in Ukraine on the situation of the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Referring to the fact that since 2017, about 60% of the shares of the Kurdistan Region-Turkey oil pipeline have been transferred to the Russian company Rosneft, he announced the possibility of sanctions against the Kurdistan Region by the West due to its cooperation with Russia.

This analyst has emphasized that the war between Russia and Ukraine has already shown its impact on the situation of the Kurdistan Region, which includes the reduction of the Kurdistan Region's oil exports by 60,000 barrels per day.

Zellmi also mentioned the increase in the price of food and some types of fuel in the Kurdistan Region as one of the consequences of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

But on the other hand, this war has caused an increase in the price of crude oil and as a result, an increase in the oil revenues of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Referring to the efforts of the Kurdistan Regional Government in exporting natural gas to Europe following the Russian embargo, he wrote: Considering that most of the gas resources of the Kurdistan Region are in the area under the control of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), this issue aggravates the differences between the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) as the main ruling party of Iraqi Kurdistan.

In his note published in Amwaj magazine, he announced the disagreement between Russia's Rosneft and the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, which, according to him, is part of the indirect result of the war in Ukraine.
