PUK stresses on conducting a national dialogue to end political crisis in Iraq

A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) emphasized on the need to hold inclusive national talks to end the current political crisis in Iraq and to elect a president and form the government.

In an interview with Al-Ma'loumeh News Agency, Ahmed Herki stated that current Iraqi President Barham Saleih is still the PUK candidate for the post of Iraqi president and that the PUK will never give up on him and will not introduce a new candidate for the position.
Herki added Salih enjoys the support and acceptance of all political parties and movements and there is no personality in the country that has absolute support from all sides.
Pointing out that there is a positive atmosphere among the Kurds, especially between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), and it is possible to reach solutions between the two parties regarding the presidential post, Herki underlined: the current stage requires comprehensive national dialogues and the PUK also has initiatives in this field and believes that Kurdish-Kurdish dialogues will witness a positive atmosphere for finding a way out of the current crisis.
