Discussing signed political deals main reason behind visits of Kurdish delegation to Baghdad: KDP member

A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) announced the Kurdish delegation's trips to Baghdad were to discuss the political agreements signed between the two sides.

Wafa Mohammad Karim said told Erth News Agency that the trips of the Kurdistan Region delegation to Baghdad were to discuss the deals and the discussions regarding the political agreements signed between the parties are continuing, however "there are points that require a period of 6 months and the visits would continue until these agreements, including the approval of the oil and gas law and the implementation of Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution, would be finalized."

Karim added: "Now, there is a slight difference regarding the sending of 400 billion dinars, which was supposed to be sent to the Kurdistan region by the order of the Iraqi Prime Minister before the end of 2022, because this amount had been halted by the Iraqi finance minister due to the intervention of some political forces, and this is what we feared from the beginning."

Regarding the problems between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Karim added: "These problems still exist and we are waiting for a high-level political delegation to visit Sulaimani to solve these problems, especially regarding the revenues of Sulaimani province that are not delivered to the treasury of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). We are also required to make all the security and military forces to obey the orders of the authorities without the control of the parties over these forces, as it is now happening in the areas under the control of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK)."
