According to Avina, Saadi Ahmed Pira, a member of the political office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, announced in a press conference that the KDP and the PUK are trying to normalize the level of their ties in the near future.

He emphasized: "the basis and infrastructure of our relations are normal, because these two parties operate in the form of two separate organizations in a multi-party federal system; there are differences in this system, there have been, and there will be in the future."

Saadi Pira said: "If you think there will be no more differences after this round of negotiations, it is wrong, but what is important is to separate the concept of political competition from political enmity. We are not enemies, but we are each other's political rivals. And both sides are trying to attract the largest number of voters by implementing their programs."

He also added: "We have agreed on the formation of the Iraqi government. We will certainly negotiate based on the agreement between the two parties at this time, and if necessary, we will prepare a new agreement."

Saadi Pira said about the PUK concerns regarding the issue of minority political organizations: "We are not looking for a reduction in their parliamentary seats, but no one in a minority organization who is also a cadre of a party should be able to easily get a seat for his party. We emphasize that the representatives of Turkmen and Christian minorities should represent them, not the PUK nor the KDP."

He asked these organizations to refrain from interfering in the disputes between these two parties and not to become a part of the problems themselves and to act neutrally as they did during the civil war.
