During the meeting, the two officials also discussed the latest regional and international developments.
The Iranian foreign minister underlined the need for Iraq to settle its overdue debts to Iran, control the joint border between the two countries, urging the necessity for practice of Iraq’s sovereignty in preventing any provocative move against Iran, strengthening linking routes and transportation between the two neighboring countries, holding the next round of a joint supreme committee session, and finalizing a comprehensive cooperation document between Iran and Iraq.
The Iraqi foreign minister, for his part, hailed Iran’s support for his country, noting that Baghdad is ready to put into force all the agreements reached during his visit to Tehran, IRNA reported.
He voiced Iraq’s readiness to continue to contribute to establishment of peace in the region and help strengthen dialogue in the regional developments.
