Zarif will discuss ties with Iraqi, Kurdish officials: consul

<p style="text-align: left;">The Islamic Republic of Iran Consul in Sulaimani stated that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will discuss, in his visit to Iraq, regional issues and bilateral ties with officials in the central government and authorities in the Kurdish autonomous region in the north.

Sadollah Maseudian told Kurdpress in an interview that Zarif will visit the 5 Iraqi cities where are home to Iran consulates and will hold meeting with top officials of the country including Kurdish officials in both Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, and Sulaimani, the second biggest city in the region.

He stated Zarif will visit the region on Teusday.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Zarif arrived in Baghdad on Sunday and held meeting with leading officials including Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi, and his Iraq counterpart Muhammad Ali Al-Hakim.

Maseudian added that Zarif will also participate in the &ldquo;Big Iran and Kurdistan Region Economic Gathering in Sulaimani, where thousands of businessmen from the province of al-Anbar, Nainawa, Salahudding in Iraq and Erbil, Dohuk, Sulaimani in Kurdistan Region and the disputed province of Kirkuk would attend the gathering.

The consul added that Zarif would also pay a visit to former Iraqi President Jalal Talabani&rsquo;s grave to express his respect to the revered prominent politician

The Iranian consul further told Kurdpress about the situation in Iraq and the region in the wake of the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not intending to interfere in the internal affairs of any country and the formation of the Kurdish government and the central government in Baghdad in an internal affairs, stressing that Tehran has always asked for negotiation and talk between Erbil and Baghdad.
