New border crossing to be opened between Kurdistan Region, Iran

<p style="text-align:left">A new border crossing between the Kurdistan Region and Iran will be opened in the next two weeks, officials from Iran's Kurdistan governorate said.

Officials from the Sulaimani and Kurdistan province governorates signed a memorandum of understanding during a meeting on Saturday night, July 6, in the latter's capital of Sanandaj, Mehr news agency reported.
A delegation from Sulaimani governorate headed by governor Haval Abu Bakir paid a-two-day visit to Sanandaj to discuss economic relations between Iran and the Kurdistan Region, according to the agency.
Kurdistan governor Bahman Murad Nia said at a press conference that the Sairanban border crossing would open in the next two weeks.
A joint committee including officials from the two provinces will also be formed to create a joint industrial zone between Sanandaj and Sulaimani in the near future, he added.
The Sairanban border crossing is located 45 kilometers north of Penjwen and will become the second official border crossing in the district. It will help to facilitate travel between Sulaimani and Baneh, Saqqez, and Sardasht in Iran.
