UK envoy backs Baghdad rule over Erbil

<p style="text-align:left">The United Kingdom ambassador to Iraq stated in remarks in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala that his country is attempting to bring an end to Erbil-Baghdad disputes and backs Baghdad&rsquo;s rule over Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

According to Jiyan news website, John Wilks told in a press conference with Karbala governor that his country is ready to help reconstructing Iraq.

He reiterated that the UK embassy in Iraq is trying to ease disputes between Erbil and Baghdad and backs the resumption of foreign flies in the KRG airports.

The ambassador also stressed on democracy in Iraq and bilateral ties between Baghdad and London, underlining that London is trying to hold healthy elections and clear in Iraq.
