Turkish foreign ministry issues warning in wake of Iraq protests

<p style="text-align: left;">The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday, July 14, regarding the ongoing protests in Iraq, noting that it is closely following the demonstrations by citizens demanding better living conditions.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry advised its citizens in Iraq to stay away from areas of protests, Anadolu News Agency reported.

The ministry advised Turkish citizens to follow warnings and announcements from the ministry and the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad.

The protests began mostly in Basra but have expanded to include the provinces of Najaf, Karbala, Dhi Qar, Maysan, Karbala, and parts of the capital of Baghdad. Protesters are demanding potable water, reliable electricity, and jobs.

At least five people have died so far and several others have been wounded, including members of the Iraqi security forces.
