Forsat Sofi, the governor of Erbil, the center of the Kurdistan Region, died this morning, Wednesday, November 28, at the age of 42, in an Ankara hospital.
He was examined on October 19 due to his deteriorating condition, and after confirming that he had the disease and the severity of his illness, he was transferred to a Turkish hospital in capital Ankara.
But the doctors' treatment was not effective and he died after a month of fighting Corona virus.
Forsat Sofi had a PhD in Public Law and was a professor at Erbil Polytechnic University. He was a member of the Kurdistan Region parliament as a representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the fourth term of the Kurdistan Parliament.
Coronavirus infection in the Kurdistan region has been increasing sharply in recent months, and now the number of cases since its outbreak has reached 90,904 of which 2,891 people have lost their lives.
