Two killed as Turkish jets hit areas in Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align: left;">Turkish warplanes struck targets near the Makhmour refugee camp in Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, April 15, coming shortly after two sets of strikes in the Raparin administration.

Iraq&rsquo;s Security Media Cell said that two women who lived in the camp were killed in the attack.

NRT reported that on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Turkish warplanes carried out operations near Amedi and hit Babire and Belizane villages, damaging crops and farmland.

The afternoon attacks follow strikes on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in Zini Warte in northeastern Erbil governorate. There were no report of casualties from the two strikes.

The Turkish military routinely carries out airstrikes and artillery bombardments in the Kurdistan Region and northern Iraq against suspected targets of the Kurdistan Workers&rsquo; Party (PKK), sometimes causing civilian casualties.

In late May 2019, Ankara launched &ldquo;Operation Claw,&rdquo; which was a sustained series of strikes over the summer against PKK targets inside the Kurdistan Region, which resulted in at least five civilian deaths according to conflict tracker Airwars.
