Kurds should hold talks with Damascus: party official

A member of the political office of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party (Al-Parti) stated that the solution to the Kurdish issue in Syria goes through Damascus.

In an interview with KurdPress, Hussein Masto, a member of the political bureau of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party (Al-Parti), referred to the statements of the Russian representative in Syria about the Kurds being left alone if the US withdraws from Syria and the need for them to return to Damascus and stated that "It is already late and the Kurds have to reach an agreement with Damascus on the Kurdish issue in Syria."

He continued: "The Kurds in Syria had the opportunity to negotiate with the government about the situation in Kurdistan in 2011, but they did not take the chance. The issue of the Kurds in Syria passes through Damascus."

"The establishment of any political system in northern and eastern Syria, from federalism to autonomy and any other type, will be resolved through negotiations with Damascus, and this will only be possible by creating conditions for negotiations between the two sides," Mr. Masto concluded.
