Anthony Belinken, foreign policy advisor to Joe Biden, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. presidential election, called the withdrawal of US troops from the Syrian Kurdish-controlled region in October 2019 as mistake since the move led into a Turkey incursion and the forcing out the Kurds from the large region, according to The Associated Press.
He told America's CBS network that Trump's move to pull out the forces and leave the democratic forces in Syria, including the Kurds, was a huge mistake, and "we will pay the price." Biden's advisor called Donald Trump's next attempt to transfer the remaining US forces in Syria to oil fields and re-establishing them in the field as another wrong move.
Anthony Belinken stressed that the U.S. has lost the leverage in Syria by leaving the Kurds alone and therby making the Syrian Kurdish-controlled region to fall into the control of Russia and Turkey.
He confirmed that the United States has lost the ability to act effectively in Syria after Turkish and Russian forces took the Kurdish-controlled region the US left.
