AKP and MHP policy is based on Kurdish denial, Ankara does not believe in Kurdish rights: official tells Kurdpress

<p style="text-align:left">The President-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Party (P&amp;Icirc;K), Hikmat Sarbiland, referred to the Turkish government's policy toward the Kurds, and said: Turkish law is based on denial of other nations and thoughts. The Turkish constitution makes no mention to the rights of minorities, and that millions of Kurdish citizens have not been recognized officially and Kurds under the Turkish constitution all Turkish citizens are Turkish.

This is a reality and we and all free media and conscience should accept that must all accept that Kurds are under oppression in Turkey. Kurdish language is banned in the country and if a person asks for his personal rights, even if s/he is a member of a political party, s/he will be arrested and a bad fate will be awaiting him, the party leader told Kurdpress in an interview.

He added that the ruling parties and the Turkish government view their nature and existence based on the rejection of the other and rejecting the Kurds is the most important means to sustain such a policy. The Kurds in Turkey are in a very unsuitable situation and the situation is much more difficult now that the two parties of Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Turkish Nationalist Party (MHP) are in power.

Pointing to the discord between Turkey's Kurdish parties, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Kurdish party said: "Kurds have a lot of problems among themselves and they have not been able to reach unity even until now. Kurdish parties would be able to form a common front for their national and social rights in Turkey, but what is clear is that differences between Kurdish parties and movements do not allow a united powerful political behavior. I hope that Kurdish political parties in Turkey would come to a common approach based on national interests and the historical conditions so as they could speak their demands loudly to Turkey and the world.

In regard to the Justice and Development Party's policy to remove the co-mayors of the pro-Kurdish Peoples&rsquo; Democratic Party (HDP) from Kurdish municipalities, Sarbiland stated that "the AKP is not faithful to the law and displaces the heads of the municipalities who were elected based on the same discriminatory constitution and appoints its trustees. We understand from the policy and behavior is mere violation, oppression and injustice since the mayors have been elected by the will of a nation.

The Head of the Islamist Kurdistan Party (P&Icirc;K) noted that when the former imprisoned co-leader of the HDP, Selahattin Demirtas, and the other key members of this party are in prison, we must be understood that the (AKP) goal is only to eliminate Kurdish people and political movements.

He also added that "no matter if Demirtas and others have weaknesses, but they have been elected according to the will of a nation and democracy they must not be in prison. The Turkish government has blocked all political facilities facing Kurds and has brought to a deadlock in politics; if we take a look at the Turkish prisons, there are many intellectuals, politicians, journalists and writers in prison.

&ldquo;I do not believe the current Turkey constitution as it has been written based on the interests of a part of Turkey citizens and it has not accepted the rights of the Kurds,&rdquo; he further told Kurdpress, continuing to say that there would be no change to Turkey politics even if there are 600 Kurdish deputies in Turkey parliament as Turkey politics has been defined based on the denial of the Kurds.

Hikmat Sarbiland stressed that the government has blocked all ways and that the only way that is left to the Kurds in Turkey is to unite, and to adopt a unified approach to the government policies and to take the voices of the people to the region and the world.

Referring to the killing of a young Kurdish man in Turkey for listening to Kurdish music, the Kurdish Islamic politician said: "the situation is very complicated. Today Kurdish is prohibited, and no one speaks Kurdish in the market, in the alleys, and the streets, and hardline groups do not hesitate to use any action to suppress the Kurdish movement. Supreme God says in Qur'an that he has created human beings from different colors and languages, but we see that the Turkish Islamist government denies both the language and the rights of the Kurds.
