Pointing to the negotiations between the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Kurdish National Council of Syria (ENKS), "Hassan Sheikho", the head of the Kurdayati Movement in Syria, a critical bloc of the ruling parties and the Syrian Kurdish parties based in Erbil, told KurdPress that every individual and any Kurdish party in Syria wishes the unity among the Kurdish bloc would be based on the interests of the peoples; as throughout history, Kurdish people have been subjected to suppression and oppression.
He continued to say that as a Kurd, we have to have a specific project, but there is no Kurdish thinking and philosophy in the Kurdish parties that are present in the negotiations today. They are either engaged with ideologies of the Left and the Brotherhood of the People, or they chant (Kurdish mottos, but they do nothing practically; as in the Turkish invasion into Afrin, Gri Spi and Sari Kani, they did nothing.
He went on to say that any negotiation and alliance that is not based on the national and Kurdish interests, will not benefit the people.
It means that their unity should not be based only on the interests of the parties.
Regarding the relationship between Kurdish parties in Syria with the U.S. and Russia, the head of movement in Syria said that in a number of meetings with parties I told them that any relationship with the powers would not be in the interest of the people if it is not based on a protocol and an agreement.
Addressing the Democratic Union Party (PYD), he stressed that the relationship between the PYD and the U.S. and Russia and the central government of Syria is not based on any written agreement between them, and that relations are only established based on the interests and money without caring about the interests of the people, which is why Russia is leaving Afrin and America is pulling its forces out of Gri Spi and Sari Kani and are leaving the ground for Turkey- affiliated terrorist groups.
Asked if there was a mechanism for negotiating between Kurdish parties and the central government, Hassan Sheikho replied: "so far our parties do not know what they want, if they are asked to go for negotiations, they really have nothing to ask, because each has different interests and they have failed to analyze the situation of Syrian Kurdistan correctly."
He added that both the PYD and the ENKS do not have a proper analysis about the situation of the Kurds in Syria, the demographic of Syria Kurdistan and the Kurdish population because there are parties that have been established for other parts of Kurdistan. These raise the pictures and portraits of Massoud Barzani (KDP leader in Iraqi Kurdistan) and Abdullah Ocalan (the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party) in Qamishlu as if Syria Kurdistan is a part of their parties and that is why the rights of the Kurds are marginalized in Syria.
The head of the Kurdish movements pointed out: "we hope that there will be parties in Syria Kurdistan that would be a replacement for the parties in Syria Kurdistan so that they will work for the interests of the Kurds in Syria and that they will make extensive efforts, either with the central government or with world powers, to find political and diplomatic solutions.
Sheikho continued to say that the present parties do not have any Kurdish approach and are affiliated with one of the countries in the region and cannot meet the demands of the Kurdish people.
He pointed out that Russia, through the central government and the U.S., wants to gain wealth, oil and resources in Syria through relying on the Kurds. Getting close to the Kurds is only for their own interests, and they do not care about Kurdish rights and mutual links.
"These parties, if they are right, should tell the United States and Russia to force Turkey out of Syria Kurdistan, press Syria's Central Government to recognize Kurdish rights or press the international community in the Geneva talks, so that Syria's central government will recognize Kurdish rights in the Syrian constitution," he concluded.
