Yousra Rajab, a member of the New Generation Movement in the Iraqi parliament, stated that al-Kadhimi needs to negotiate with all Kurdish parties in the Kurdistan Region in order to complete his cabinet, not the two ruling parties of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), according to al-Ma’alomeh news website.
Rajab said: "the political parties contribute to the delay of the process of forming the new Iraqi government and the two Kurdish parties (the KDP and the PUK) insist on their candidates to fill the ministries left by the Kadhimi’s government.”
The Kurdish parliament deputy added that al-Kadhimi must negotiate with all Kurdish parties to finalize the cabinet and do not rely on the two Kurdish parties, which have disrupted the government’s formation.
Regarding the nomination of Fuad Hussein, former finance minister of the federal government of Iraq and a senior member of the KDP, Rajab said that Hussein is expected to be appointed as Iraq’s Foreign Minister in al-Kadhimi’s government and he is the loyal to the KDP, which insists on his candidacy for the ministry.
Later, the representative of the New Generation Movement, led by Saswar Abdel Wahid, emphasized that the KDP dominates borders and the border crossings of the Kurdistan Region and takes control of much of the region’s income.
