Russia is seeking to distance Syrian Kurds from U.S.: magazine

<p style="text-align:left">Russia is strengthening its military presence in the Kurdish region of Syria and becoming the supporter of Syrian Kurds instead of the United States, according to a military magazine in the U.S.

According to Sofrep, a magazine of former US military forces, Russia is attempting to boost its military presence in northeast Syria, which is under Syrian Kurdish control and the US military has forces in the region.
Citing local sources, the paper wrote that Russia is seeking to establish military bases in some important Kurdish areas in northeast Syria, and recently the number of Russian military conflicts with the U.S. military has increased in the region which seeks to limit the U.S. military movements in the region.
Sofrep also revealed that Russia is in talks with the central government to establish new bases in Syrian Kurdish areas, especially in the border area close to the Iraqi border.
Russia ultimately wants the Americans to leave the northeastern region of Syria so that the Kurds could go under Russian protection instead of relying on America, and that Russia will protect the Kurds against Turkey itself, the magazine said.
