Abdullah Ocalan could be released in 2024: journalist

In a note titled "Advocacy Punishments", HaberTurk journalist said the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) jailed Leader Abdullah Ocalan could be released in 2024.

In an article titled "Advocacy Punishments", Turkish HaberTurk journalist Fateh Altayli discussed the Turkish penal code reform, saying "Sedat Ergin, one of the most prominent Turkish journalists and writers, wrote a note in 2014 about the need to reconsider the sentencing situation of the imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan. It is possible that Turkey will to released Ocalan in 2024."

"Former Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc came under fire for calling for the release of Selahattin Demirtas, the former co-chair of the Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP)," HaberTurk reported.

"Demirtas has been in prison since 2016. The politician has been sentenced to two times of life imprisonment and 486 years in prison. What I see is: They want to hold Demirtas responsible for everything the PKK has done and make him responsible for their anger over the YPG, PKK and all terrorist groups, the support of the United States, Obama, Trump and the West for these terrorist groups."
