Service of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region - The Director General of the General Organization of Iraqi Customs announced the positive response of the Kurdistan Region to the issue of the unification of customs tariffs at the federal crossings and the crossings of the Kurdistan Region.

According to Kurdpress, Thamer Qasim, director general of the General Organization of Iraqi Customs, announced the positive response of the Kurdistan Region to the issue of unifying customs tariffs at the federal crossings and Kurdistan Region crossings.

Thamer Qasim said that the Kurdistan Region has started implementing the issue of harmonizing tariffs with federal crossings and adhering to Resolution No. 597 and all customs instructions issued by the federal government.

He explained: Initial agreements and meetings have been held in Baghdad over the past two days, and practical and real understandings have begun to unify tariffs. This is a very important step that will help solve many problems.

He added: Efforts are underway to implement the Asikoda system, and advanced understandings have been reached in this regard.

Thamer Ghasem pointed out: the issue of customs tariff does not include all goods, but it includes high-use imported goods that take out a large amount of foreign currency every year. He emphasized: The goal is to manage and organize imports, preserve the dollar and prevent foreign currency from going out to import low-quality goods, as well as support the national industry. Therefore, there should be a clear national customs policy.
