PUK disputes are internal affairs and KDP won't interfere in: spokesman

A spokesman for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) said about the recent disputes in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) are internal and that the KDP does not interfere in the internal affairs of the party.

According to the Xendan news site, Mahmoud Muhammad, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Spokesman, said about the recent disputes between Bafel Talabani and Lahur Sheikh Jangi, the co-Presidents of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), that these disputes are internal issues within the party and they are necessary to be settled.

He expressed hope that the resolution of these disputes would be in the interests of the Kurdistan Region and political stability and internal reconciliation in the region.

Muhammad also stressed that the KDP has not interfered in the internal affairs of the PUK and hopes that this issue will end in the interest of the people of the Kurdish autonomous region.

However, after the disputes in the PUK, Lahur Sheikh Jangi and his supporters claimed that these tensions were a conspiracy of the KDP against him, and that the party was involved in the emergence of disputes in the union and his marginalization.
