Erbil says Baghdad must prevent attacks on Kurdistan Region

The head of Kurdistan Regional Government foreign relations stressed that the central government of Iraq must stop the attacks that take place against the territory of the Kurdistan Region.

Speaking to VOA, Safin Dizayee said that the Kurdistan Region has always tried to bring stability to the region, adding that the autonomous region has extended a hand of friendship to neighboring countries and nations and expects that this friendship will be based on mutual interests.

Regarding the attacks on the Kurdistan Region, he said that the attacks, whether by missiles or by drones, are and should be of concern to all parties, but unfortunately the formation of joint committees between Erbil and Baghdad to investigate and follow up the attacks and the identification of the perpetrators have not yet yielded tangible results. Although information is available on the location and perpetrators of these attacks, more information is needed Dizayee further said.

The KRG top foreign official underscored that the central government of Iraq is primarily responsible for preventing attacks against the region as the region is a part of Iraq.
