Responding to the recent remarks of the Syria Kurdish National Council (ENKS) head that non-Syrians should quit the party, the PYD official Ahmed Sheikho said there are no non-Syrian in the ranks of the pro-Kurdish party which controls the Kurdish region in northern Syria.
"Whenever the Kurds wanted to unite, the enemies did not give a chance and the Kurds themselves have had opposing positions towards each other so that the opportunity for unity has not happened. Especially since the project of unity among the Kurdish parties in Syria has started, ." said Ahmed Sheikh, a member of the leadership council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), in an interview with KurdPress.
He continued: "We know who is against this alliance and why they do not want the alliance project to be finalized. We are a Syrian party and our place of activity is Syria Kurdistan, and the statements by some people who say that non-Syrians should leave the Democratic Union Party (PYD) are not true."
"First of all, I must say that there are no non-Syrians among the PYD forces," Ahmad Sheikho said, noting that "we all pay attention to the situation of other Kurds and our door is open to them. Syria Kurdistan owes to the blood of young people who have come here from other places to fight terrorism."
The member of the leadership council of the PYD acknowledged: "It is a moral duty if someone from wherever of the world has come to Syria Kurdistan to fight terrorism and IS, s/he is currently our guest." Sheikho, also the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party in the Euphrates region stated.
"Those who work in the PYD are Syrians and have a Syrian identity card, and there is no other case outside this fact." Sheikhoo pointed out.
"Such statements are only excuses to make the issue of unity not to succeed, and this issue is a pressure outside their will and is imposed on them from outside," he concluded.
It is worth mentioning that the head of the ENKS stated: "We are thankful to the non-Syrian Kurds for coming to help Syria Kurdistan but they must leave the region now and stressed that Syria Kurdistan must be managed by the Syrian Kurds.
"Negotiations are ongoing but no agreement has been reached on the return of Roj Peshmerga forces to Syrian Kurdistan," said Saud Mullah, the chairman of the ENKS, in an interview with Rudaw about talks between the Syrian Kurdish parties on the issue of unity.
Regarding the talks between the ENKS and the Kurdish Patriotic Union Parties (PYNK), Saud Mullah said: "Negotiations between the two sides are ongoing."
"This issue has not been raised in the talks so far and no agreement has been reached in this regard," the head of the Kurdish council said about the return of the Roj Peshmerga forces to Syria Kurdistan
Saud Mullah also said: "We have several demands, including the abolition of compulsory service, the fate of prisoners, as well as the non-Syrians who are in the ranks of the Democratic Union Party (PYD)."
He said: "We thank the people who came to help Syria Kurdistan but they must return now," stressing that the region (Syria Kurdistan) is now run by Syrian Kurds.
A few days ago in Qamishli, the capital of the Syrian Kurdish region, a meeting was formed between the Syrian Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK.S), the Assyrian Democratic Movement and Tiar al-Akhd and the Arab Council of Cizre (Reconciliation and Freedom Front).
Regarding the formation of the Reconciliation and Freedom Front in Cizre, Saud Mullah said: "First of all, Syrian structures must agree with each other so that these structures can reach a conclusion over the future of Syria."
