Kurdistan Region delegation to visit Baghdad tomorrow

<p style="text-align:left">A high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Region, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, is scheduled to travel to Baghdad on Sunday, September 6, in order to resume talks with the federal government.

According to Shafaq News, Talabani's spokesman Samir Hewrami said: "The delegation will travel to Baghdad tomorrow with the aim of continuing negotiations with the federal government on the issue of budget and demands of the Kurdistan Region from the federal government and the region&rsquo;s share in the 2021 budget law."

Hewrami added that previous meetings on achieving a comprehensive solution to the dispute between Erbil and Baghdad had been positive.

It is to be noted that the regional negotiating team has visited Baghdad several times following the suspension of the budget for the salaries of public sector employees of the Kurdistan Region under former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi&rsquo;s government.

The main focus of the dispute between Erbil and Baghdad is the Kurdistan Region's share of the budget, the salaries of Peshmerga forces, oil exports and disputed areas, which is the subject of Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution.
