Referring to the visit of the Nechirvan Barzani's visit to Turkey and meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and officials, Hekmat Sarbiland told KurdPress that the visit is important, but Turkey will not reach out to the Kurds unless it is under pressure as the country is only seeking following a Kurdish destruction and denial policy.
He added: "While these meetings are taking place, the Turkish army is invading the Kurdistan region and spreading war in the region under the pretext of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) existence and Turkish planes are targeting residential areas in the Kurdistan region."
The party official continued: "Despite the fact that Turkey attacks civilians and targets ordinary citizens under the pretext of fighting the PKK, on the other hand, it meets with regional officials but Turkey never cares about the Kurds and their interests.
"We hope that these meetings will be a source of goodness would not harm the Kurds in other areas," said Mr. Sarbiland, noting that diplomatic relations are normal but should be based on the interests of the people.
He further noted: " Today, Turkey is waging an unjust war against the Kurds in Turkey, Syria and Iraq. Erdogan's power is endangered politically and economically both at home and abroad, so he wants to continue his trade through the Kurdistan Region. The trade volume between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region is high, and the Turks are making huge profits and the Turkish economy will be in crisis, if this trade tie is in trouble."
The President-General of the Islamic Party of Kurdistan (PÎK) noted: "On the other hand, the Kurdistan Region has an important role in the region and the Middle East and affects the relations in the region, so Turkey wants to put the Kurds against each other in its new policy."
He reminded that under the pretext of the PKK's presence in the Kurdistan region, Turkey wants to put the Kurdistan region and the PKK against each other and create a civil war and make the Kurds to commit fratricide again.
He stressed: "I hope the Kurds do not make such a mistake again and do not start a fratricidal war." The PÎK leader said, referring to Erdogan's political isolation inside and outside Turkey.
He also explained: Erdogan is facing a severe political and economic crisis both inside and outside Turkey. Erdogan and his fellow party (the Turkish Nationalist Party MHP) are seeking a return to the era of monarchy and Ottomanism but now France is against Erdogan policies in Syria and Libya.
Hekmat Sarbiland added: "Before Nichervan Barzani's visit to Turkey, he had a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron the day before and this frightened Erdogan. During the meeting between Macron and Barzani, the French president reiterated Paris's support to the Kurdistan Region.
He continued: "I think Erdogan wants to know the nature of the meeting between Macron and Barzani, because Mr. Barzani is likely to visit France and several European countries in a near future."
"Turkey will never extend the hand of friendship to the Kurds if it does not have to. We that Turkey had good ties with the Kurdistan Region before the referendum of independence but Turkey embarked on a stubborn hostility against the region after the referendum," Mr. Sarbiland told KurdPress.
He noted: "I do not believe in the brotherhood of Turkey and I believe that Turkey's goal of friendship with the Kurdistan Region is only for its own interests and to put pressure on the Kurdistan Region.
The party official ultimately said Turkey knows that Nichervan Barzani and Mzloum Kobani have a constructive role in bringing Syrian Kurds together, that's why Ankara attempts to prevent Kurds from making any deal.
