"Negotiations are ongoing and we as the Kurdish National Council are very eager to achieve the expected results the people are seeking for," Suleiman Osu, a member of the board of the Kurdish National Council (ENKS) and chairman of the Syrian Kurdistan Union Party (PYKS) in Syria, told KurdPress.
He added: "Many issues have been discussed and the task of some of them has been determined, but many issues still remain to reach a result that requires a real partnership in Syrian Kurdistan."
He further continued to say that: "We need to reach an alliance which the two sides can put aside previous hostilities and play a common role in governing the self-autonmous institutions."
Referring to independence in the decision-making of the two parties in their political sphere, the ENKS official said: "We must try to cut off the interference of others in our politics. For example, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (pkk) interferes in Syrian Kurdistan has created many problems for the Kurdish people in Syria and led to the Turkish military incursion into Syrian Kurdistan."
Suleiman Osu stated: It is obligatory for Turkey to respect the vote and political independence of Syrian Kurdistan and not to interfere in the work of the parties in this region and to help the political process in this region.
"We believe that we should reach a real partnership in military and security issues as well. We have not entered into talks on these issues yet," the head of the PYKS in Syria explained about the partnership in military and security issues between the two negotiating parties.
Suleiman Osu pointed out that changes should be made in the field of education in schools as well. The curriculum taught by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in schools in Syrian Kurdistan is not approved by any of the international institutions.
The ENKS official also told KurdPress that: "As the Kurdish National Council, we are serious about negotiations and we hope to reach a final agreement, in these negotiations, with the support of the United States."
