Nechirvan Barzani, UN Special Representative for Iraq meets in Erbil

<p style="text-align:left">Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert in Erbil on Tuesday, September 15, and discussed latest development, political process in Iraq, along the current talks between Erbil and Baghdad.

According to a statement released by Kurdistan Region Presidency, during the meeting Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani highlighted the positive contributions and role of the United Nation in Iraq.
He also reiterated that the organization can help Iraq resolve its problems, overcome its difficulties, and stand up to the challenges that the country is currently facing, NRT reported.
The statement added that the federal system in Iraq, the upcoming elections, confronting the terror and ISIS movements and other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed at the meeting.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said in a tweet that Hennis-Plasschaert met with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and discussed the current political, security, humanitarian situation in Iraq and the region, including forthcoming early elections, voluntary return of IDPs, and Baghdad-Erbil relations.
