US oil ambitions are not in the best interest of Syrian Kurds: journal

<p style="text-align: left;"> "The United States, which is taking over the oil industry in the Kurdish region of Syria, may set a precondition for the Kurds to achieve their goals in Syria," wrote the Modern Democracy journal.

According to US officials, Delta Crescent Energy Company has signed an agreement with the Syrian Kurds to exploit the region's oil as much as possible and to finance the Kurdish self-ruling administration in northern Syria.

However, the Modern Democracy journal believes that this is the continuation of US oil ambitions in the Middle East, and that Syrian oil may not be of much benefit to the Kurds in the war-torn country.

The journal described the oil deal with the Syrian Kurds as part of the US effort to finance its forces in the Kurdish-controlled region. Modern Democracy has also stressed that Washington has seized Kurdish oil, and now it may set preconditions for further assistance to the Syrian Kurds in achieving greater autonomy.

The journal also cited the US support for the Kurds in northern Syria in the oil industry as a source of further tension among the Kurds in the country.

Modern Democracy has also warned that US control over Syrian oil could further weaken the country's sovereignty and economy.
