No agreement is possible until PYD distances itself from PKK: ENKS official

<p style="text-align:left">A member of the Kurdish National Council of Syria (ENKS) told KurdPress in an interview that no deal is possible between Syrian Kurdish parties until the PYD distances itself from the Kurdistan Workers'Party (PKK).

Also the head of the Public Relations Office of the Future of Syrian Kurdistan, Fadi Marei, said: "We have not entered into talks on military, security, economic and managerial issues yet. For us, the basis of a comprehensive agreement on all issues is the 2014 Duhok Agreement."
"We have only reached an understanding and this is not an agreement yet. First, a political understanding, and then the formation of an high-level reference have been decided," he added.
He continued: "We have not started negotiations on military, security, economic and managerial issues. For us, the basis of a comprehensive agreement on all issues is the 2014 Duhok agreement."
Marei went on to say that: "What is important is the presence of US representatives in the negotiations as a guarantee."
Referring to the differences between the two sides over some issues, the head of the Public Relations Office of the Future of Syrian Kurdistan stated that: "As long as some basic issues such as reading and writing in Kurdish, the separation of the Democratic Union Party from the PKK, the release of political prisoners and a cooperative management are not decided, I do not think we will reach a result."
Fadi Marie pointed out: "We, as the ENKS are serious in the negotiations and hope that the other side will be serious in the talks so that we can provide the interests of our nation."
The Syrian Kurdish official stressed that the Leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Massoud Barzani also supports the negotiations.
