The EIR political magazine described the US-Turkish military presence in northern Syria as an attempt by the two countries to separate parts of the country using the Kurdish issue.
The magazine released by Laroj Publication reminded that Turkey had previously annexed Alexandria which was part of Syria, and is now trying to annex other parts of Syria under the pretext of confronting the Kurds. The magazine cited the teaching of Turkish language in schools in the Turkish-controlled region of Syria and the ethnic cleansing in some Kurdish areas of the war-torn country as evidence of Turkey's renewed efforts to divide parts of Syria.
The magazine also described the deployment of US troops and heavy equipment in Syrian Kurdish-controlled areas and the control of oil fields in those areas as Washington's attempt to control the region and prevent the Syrian government from controlling it, and called it a US move to segregate a part of Syria.
The political magazine EIR believes that both Turkey and the United States are trying to use the Kurdish issue and take the control of parts of the Syrian territory but their approaches to the Syrian Kurdish issue are different; Turkey sees Syrian Kurdish autonomy as a threat to its very existence, but the United States seeks to consolidate its influence in the country by supporting Syrian Kurdish autonomy.
