According to Nas News, Maj. Gen. Jabbar al-Taie told the official Iraqi news agency: "According to the agreement made between the central government and the Kurdistan Region, only the army, local police and the national security forces will be responsible for securing Shingal in coordination with the Iraqi intelligence service."
Major General Al-Taie added: "No other armed or unarmed security forces will be allowed to be present or interfere in security affairs inside the city."
The Iraqi Joint Operations Command had previously announced the resumption of settling security forces in the city in Ninawa province.
The command announced in a statement on December 1st that the West Ninawa Operations Command had begun a plan to relocate forces to central Shingal.
According to the statement, the operation will include the division of responsibilities to achieve security and stability and prepare the ground for all displaced people to return to their hometowns in the city.
He added: "The military and security forces will continue their efforts to achieve complete security and stability in Shingal and its subordinate areas."
