At least 16 killed and 12 wounded in Sari Kani bomb blast

<p dir="LTR" style="text-align:justify">At least sixteen people, including two civilians, were killed in car bomb blast in Sari Kani city in Syrian Kurdistan, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The explosion occurred at a joint checkpoint between the civilian police and the Sultan Murad faction at the entrance to the Kurdish city, the watchdog group said.

It added that death toll is expected to rise further as 12 injured.

In October 2019, Turkish army in coordination with its allied Syrian rebels occupied Sari Kani and Gri Spi north of Hasaka governorate in Operation Peace Spring from the Kurdish-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Since then, residents in the area have experienced security chaos, blasts, infighting, looting, rape and other human rights abuses.
