Mohammad Dareh Vazmi made the remarks Monday addressing the 7th meeting of ECO mine experts in Sanandaj, IRNA reported.
Sari Guni is the largest gold mine in Kurdistan Province reaching 70 million tons of gold ore reserves, he said.
Kurdistan has a diverse geological structure and therefore has a high mineral content and 18 minerals have been discovered in this province, he added.
Dareh Vazmi referred to gold, lead, zinc and manganese as minerals discovered in the province, saying that decorative stones such as marble, crystals, travertine and building materials such as mineral wool and barite were also found in the province.
The ECO meeting was held with the attendance of experts from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
