In a press conference after his meeting with Abadi, Barzani said the Kurdish region has no precondition or red line for any political figure for becoming Iraqi premier.
Shwan Raber told Kurdpress in an interview that Barzani's visit comes months after Iraqi forces took the control of disputes regions that were under the control the Kurdish forces of Peshmerga before October 16. Kurdistan Region officials went ahead with holding the referendum of independence on September 25 despite oppositions from Baghdad and neighbor states and stressed that the region wants to become a good neighbor for Iraq but months later and they not only lost the control of a half of the region but also returned to Baghdad and stated they want to have good ties with the central government
Raber told Kurdpress that Barzani's meeting with Abadi was also an attempt by the Kurdish PM to normalize Erbil-Baghdad ties and pave way for the formation of the new Iraqi government.
