PKK and Hashid al-Shaabi presence in Shingal affects people's votes: commander

A commander of the Yazidi forces affiliated to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) said that the presence of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)-affiliated forces and the Hashid al-Shaabi fighters would affect the votes of voters in the areas they exist.

According to Shafaq News, Haidar Shasho, the commander of Izid Khan forces, stated in this regard that: "the forces affiliated to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Shingal may use these forces to change the will of the voters. And put them under pressure to vote for special candidates."

Shasho added: "During the election campaign in Shingal, many election violations have taken place and PKK and Hashid al-Shaabi forces prevented the entry of Kurdistan Democratic Party candidates in this city and the pictures and placards of the candidates in this city have been destroyed."

Shasho went on to add that the PKK has a candidate for the Iraqi House of Representatives and that the party supports another candidate. But their chances for winning the Iraqi parliamentary elections are not a lot.
