Kilicdaroglu: gov't stigmatizes Kurds as "terrorists" to gain votes

Turkey’s main opposition bloc Nation Alliance’s presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu has stated, in a new video, that President Erdogan's government stigmatizes Kurdish people as “terrorists” when they see that "they will lose the election... to gain a few more votes."

Main opposition bloc Nation Alliance’s presidential candidate and Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu on April 17 has addressed Kurdish people in a new video he shared on his social media accounts.

In the video titled “Kurds,” Kilicdaroglu said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government stigmatizes Kurdish people as “terrorists,” whenever they “see they will lose the election.”

“Right now, millions of Kurds are treated as terrorists, nonstop, every day. They alienate our people from the state. Why? To gain a few more votes. They are not ashamed. My dear people. Do not be fooled by this propaganda,” Kilicdaroglu said.

He added that “There is a destiny that makes Turks and Kurds brothers. Fate brought us together. There is no deep love like brotherly love. For a few votes, I will never, ever allow anyone to harm the fraternity."

The leftist Labor and Freedom Alliance, including pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) have not field a presidential candidate for the May 14 presidential election in a move to bolster Kemal Kilicdaroglu's candidacy.
