No Turkish military delegation was present at Abu al-Dhuhur airbase during the Israeli attack

Turkish Service – The Turkish Ministry of Defense denied the presence of any military delegation from the country at Abu al-Dhuhur airbase before or during the Israeli attack, describing the attack as an act against the stability, security, infrastructure and territorial integrity of Syria.

According to Kurdistan Press, Admiral Zeki Akturk, press advisor and spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Defense, explained the developments in the region at the weekly briefing of the ministry, which was held within the framework of the "Blue Homeland Technofest" program on board the TCG Koçhisar ship in Kocaeli. In response to questions about the Israeli attack on the Abu al-Dhuhur air base in Syria, the Turkish Defense Ministry stated: “There was no Turkish military delegation present at the base before or during the Israeli attack on the Abu al-Dhuhur air base.”

Israeli attack harms Syria’s stability and territorial integrity

The Turkish Defense Ministry described the Israeli attack on the Abu al-Dhuhur air base as an act aimed at harming Syria’s stability, security, unity, territorial integrity and infrastructure.

The ministry’s statement said: “We emphasize at every opportunity that attacks that violate Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are unacceptable. Israel must end such reckless attacks and comply with the requirements of international law in order to ensure peace and stability in Syria and the region.»

The Defense Ministry also announced Turkey’s continued support for the reconstruction of Syria’s military infrastructure and capabilities within the framework of the “one army” principle.

Criticism of Israeli military operations in the region

In another part of his speech, Akturk said that Israel’s rejection of the “Gaza plan” and its continued attacks in the region undermine efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.

He added that Israel, despite the signed framework agreement, continues its military attacks and activities in southern Lebanon and that with its recent attacks on Syria, it has also targeted the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of that country.

The Turkish Defense Ministry spokesman said: “The impression should not be allowed to form that Israeli military interventions against neighboring countries are normal and acceptable. The future of the region must be based on international law and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, not the unilateral use of force.”

Akturk called on the international community to take more tangible and effective measures against actions that he said threaten regional peace and stability.

He stated that Turkey’s priority is to prevent the region from being dragged into further conflict and instability and to make peace and security permanent, and announced Ankara’s continued support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability.
