British PM condemns assassination attempt against Iraqi PM Kadhimi

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson condemned the assassination attempt on his Iraqi counterpart Mustafa al-Kadhimi and stressed his support for Iraq.

The press service of the Iraqi Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that "British Prime Minister Boris Johnson condemned the terrorist act against him [Kadhimi] in a telephone call with his Iraqi counterpart."
The Iraqi Prime Minister's Office also announced that Johnson wished Mustafa Kadhimi good health and stressed the full support of Britain for the country and the Iraqi government in its efforts to stabilize and strengthen the country.
According to the statement, Kadhimi also stressed, in the phone call, on efforts to establish a long-term partnership with Britain, strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations in the common interests of the two countries in various fields.
Earlier on the day, the Iraqi Security Information Committee issued a statement on Sunday morning, saying that a drone had exploded at Mustafa Kadhimi's residence in Baghdad's Green Zone, stating that the assassination attempt on the prime minister had failed and that he was safe.
The attack has been widely condemned by Iraqi domestic political movements. However, some Iraqi parties and movements have described the move as a show.
