Masoud Barzani has sent a message to Sunni politicians, says official

A senior member of Azzim coalition announced the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader Masoud Barzani had sent a message to representatives of Sunni movements about the formation of a upcoming coalition in the wake of forming the next Iraqi government.

According to Iraqi media, Mashaan al-Jubouri wrote in a post on Twitter: "The office of Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, has recently announced in a meeting with Iraqi political figures and Sunni representatives that the Kurdistan Region supports the agreement obtained between Mohammad Halbousi and Khamis Al-Khanjar.

Efforts to form the largest coalition in the Iraqi parliament and introduce a new cabinet are under way following the holding of early parliamentary elections in Iraq last October. Following the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections, news was published that a coalition consisting of the Sadr faction would have a majority in parliament with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and a coalition led by former Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammad Halbousi.

Meanwhile, the influential Shiite movements in Iraq, which won fewer seats in the recent parliamentary elections than in previous periods, are trying to join the Sadr faction in the process of forming the next government.
